Your Wyoming elk hunting adventure will take place at our wilderness camp, nestled south of Yellowstone National Park within the Teton wilderness, specifically in Wyomings’ famed elk unit 70. Also uniquely located just a short ride from units 60 and 71, Wyoming’s famed Thorofare region. A picturesque 16-mile horseback ride will transport you to our campsite, along the iconic north fork of the Buffalo River.

Camp amenities include:

  • Comfortable canvas wall sleeping tents outfitted with 3” foam sleeping pads and cozy cots for a restful night's sleep.

  • A dedicated cook tent where hearty meals are prepared to fuel your adventure.

  • A convenient shower tent for refreshing after a day of hunting.

  • Ample firewood to provide warmth and comfort as you unwind in the wilderness.

Total bag weight: 40 pounds each

Total bag count: 2 tubular type duffel bags 30-36 inches in length.

General Gear.

Your gear should fit into one or two duffel bags, with your bedroll rolled separately. However, it's better to use two shorter duffel bags than one big one. Please limit each bag to 40 pounds or less.

please remember that all gear must be packed in 16 miles by horse and mule.

DUFFLE BAGS (IMPORTANT) Tubular type, 30” to 36” in length. This is the most convenient size for packing on mules. Each individual’s gear including a sleeping bag and pillow should fit into two duffle bags of this size.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT FOR OUR FALL Wyoming elk HUNTS

Daytime temperatures will range from 20 to 80 degrees.

Sleeping bag Night time temperatures will range from 10 to 40 degrees. We supply 3” foam sleeping pads and comfortable cots.

Small Pillow

Waterproof Leather Boots One pair of insulated and one pair of non-insulated boots suitable for walking on steep sidehills would be ideal.

Hooded Rain Gear Lightweight enough to carry in your day pack while hiking.

Gloves-several pairs

Wool or Fleece Pants are the quietest

Wool or Fleece Jacket of medium weight

Wool Shirt or Sweatshirt or Sweater or Vest

Jeans (1-2 pairs) Shirts (2-3) Long Underwear (2 pairs) Socks (several pairs)

Hat or cap

Towel & washcloth-1 container of wet wipes for personal hygiene

Quality Binoculars (10 power is best and compacts can work well)

Lightweight Flashlight and headlamp (extra batteries)

Rifle & 40 rounds of ammunition (we supply saddle rifle scabbards). You need not bring a spare rifle as we have extra scoped rifles in our camp.

ARCHERY HUNTERS: We supply bow scabbards, but we will need maximum length and width measurements of your bow in advance of the hunt. We have block targets in the camp for your use.

Wyoming CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS: Big or Trophy Game hunters must wear visibly one exterior garment of a florescent orange color which shall include a hat, cap, jacket, or vest. ARCHERY HUNTERS ARE EXCLUDED FROM WEARING ORANGE CLOTHING IN AN ARCHERY-ONLY SEASON.
